Birdseye is a prized wood for
artisans and fine furniture makers, and is used extensively in
high end products such as a dashboard
in Rolls Royce automobiles. Birdseye maple, one of the rarest
kinds of wood on the planet, has a distinctive pattern that looks
like tiny, swirling eyes disrupting the smooth lines of grain.
Birdseye maple isn’t a variety or species of maple, but
rather a phenomenon that occurs within the tree due to an unknown
cause. Birdseye maple has a medium density and variable color.
The outer rings of the tree create lumber that’s usually
a creamy, light amber color with darker birdseye patterns.
Each case is made at our own cabinet shop from the finest solid
maple and birdseye veneer. Finished with semi gloss lacquer,
these cases have the finest European solid brass quadrant hinges
with matching lock and key. *Note these case are in limited supply
and only sold from stock. Sorry no specials orders as this wood
